Overnights

1.

FLIGHT IN AGADEZ
Arrival in Agadez airport, where you will meet the guide. Transfer at the hotel. Dinner in a local restaurant.

DABOUS - OUADI ANOU MEKKERENE
Departure with the 4x4 vehicles towards the north to join the magnificent engravings of Dabous. We continue in direction of Timia, passing through the ouadi Anou Mekkerene. Picnic along the route. Dinner at the camp.

3.

TIMIA - ZAGADO
We enter in the heart of the Air Massif. Visit of the Timia village with its gardens, palm trees, fort and waterfalls. Possibility to swim at the waterfalls. We follow the Zagado Valley and leave the Air Massif for join to the "bordure" of the Ténéré Desert. Picnic along the route. Dinner at the camp.

4.

ARAKAO - ADRAR CHIRIET
Visit to the magnificent Arakao, a mountainous "circus" filled with large "waves" of dunes shaped by the wind. Possibility to meet with the nomads at the water wells. We continue until the wonderful Adrar Chiriet where the black granite stands in amazing contrast with the yellow sand surrounding the Adrar. Picnic along the route. Dinner at the camp.

5/6.

BLUE MOUNTAINS - TEMET - TENERE DU TAFASSASSET
After, we join the Blue Mountains, wonderful marble rocky mountain with blu shade. Visit at the highest dunes of the Sahara; Temet dunes with their unique landscape. Then, cross the Ténéré Desert: total emptiness, solitude, plenitude, immensity and purity of the atmosphere. There is any trace of life, just sand as far as the eye can see. Picnics along the route. Dinners at the camp.

7/8.

DJADO, DJABA, ORIDA - FALAISE DI KAOUAR
The beautiful Djado plateau appears at the horizon. Visit to the fortified cities of Djado and Djaba. We continue along the cliff of Kaouar and pass near Chirfa, Séguidine, Aney, Dirkou. Picnics along the route. Dinners at the camp.

BILMA - GRAND ERG DE BILMA
In the heart of an ocean of sand it stands the impressive oasis of Bilma , that remain the last center of the caravan trade. Here and also in Fachi, you can observe the ancient process of salt production: first, salt is dug out of the earth and then purified through a process of washing and evaporation, ultimately producing solid blocks that are carried on the camels and transported across the desert. From October to March, on this way it is possible to encounter one of the famous salt caravans en route to or from Bilma and Fachi. Picnics along the route. Dinners at the camp.

11/12.

FACHI - ARBRE DU TENERE
Visit to the nice Fachi oasis and drive until the Arbre du Ténéré, which is an important point of reference all travellers and Tuaregs crossing this very remote area. The Arbre du Ténéré was also the last acacia (and the only tree for several hundred miles of desert) of the once great Saharan forest. The Ténéré Tree was destroyed by a Lybian truck driver in 1973 and its remains are now in the National Museum in Niamey. Camp along the Falaise de Tiguidit. Picnics along the route. Dinners at the camp.

13.

FALAISE DE TIGUIDIT - AGADEZ
Back to Agadez via Falaise de Tiguidit. Accomodation at the hotel. Picnic lunch en route. Dinner at the restaurant.

AGADEZ
Time for individual visits of the city. The main sights are the central market, the 16 th century mosque, the sultan's palace, the camel market and some interesting silver shops: the croix d'Agadez is famous in all Sahel countries. Accomodation at the hotel. Dinner in a local restaurant.

FLIGHT OUT
Transfer to the airport and flight out to Marseille/Paris.
